AI for Good Global Summit

The Summit is the leading United Nations (UN) platform for global and inclusive dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI), organised by ITU in partnership with 40 UN agencies and co-convened with the government of Switzerland.

From the KT4D project's perspective this event represents a great - if not the best -  opportunity this year to discuss relevant issues in the area of Democracy and AI with speakers coming form all over the world and from the most diverse areas, including public and private. Participating in the event will give everyone the chance to talk about how democracy is changing given new technologies and to do so with people with different ideas, backgrounds and perspectives. 

The event will host many European representatives, the which si also home to the world's first AI Act, which takles also the relation of AI to Democracy as discussed in the KT4D policy brief entitled 'Culture's Role in Navigating Technological Change' and in the first article of our series on European technology regulation entitled 'AI and Democracy - A focus on their complicated relationship with Information' . 

The goal of AI for Good is to identify practical applications of AI to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to connect AI innovators with public and private sector decision-makers to help scale up AI solutions globally. Recognising the urgency brought on by the emergence of generative AI and the challenges posed by this new technology, the Summit will discuss the need for guardrails and global AI governance frameworks. 

The event will feature talks from thought leaders as well as demonstrations of state-of-the-art AI solutions that could achieve global scale with the support of the international AI for Good community, while also addressing the global challenges. AI and robotics innovators—and their high-tech creations—will join humanitarian leaders for the latest edition of the Summit to demonstrate how breakthrough technologies can advance the SDGs.  Information relating to the event, including registration, confirmed speakers and exhibitors, sponsorship, partners can be found here
