On November 28th, the MUST-a-Lab Project will host a conference in Brussels (Rue Adolphe Lavallée, 39) focused on pressing questions around migrant integration and participatory democracy. Like the MUST-a-Lab initiative, KT4D recognizes the importance of empowering diverse voices, particularly underrepresented groups such as migrants and asylum seekers, in democratic processes.

The MUST-a-Lab conference aligns with this mission by promoting an open dialogue and by addressing key questions such as:

  • What is the role of migrants and asylum seekers in the shaping and implementation of integration policies at the local level?
  • How can their voice be heard not only in general consultations, but in the co-design of effective policies and in their implementation?
  • How can principles and approaches of participatory democracy be applied to integration policies? Can an interest-based participatory approach work in this domain?
  • How can cities share experience across countries, influence national and European policies and consolidate results of participatory experiments in this field?

In addition to structured panels, the conference will offer parallel sessions for attendees to contribute ideas on enhancing democratic engagement. The MUST-a-Lab conference aims to foster cross-national knowledge sharing and explore ways to implement and sustain participatory approaches across European cities.
