KT4D has successfully established several synergistic relationships with other research projects and played a pivotal role in the creation of the AI, Big Data and Democracy Task Force. This task force comprises 8 EU-funded projects, united in supporting the European Commission’s commitment to fostering “Europe in a changing world - inclusive, innovative and reflective societies.” The projects originally involved were AI4Gov, KT4D, and ITHACA, funded under the Horizon call ‘Artificial intelligence, big data and democracy’, and ORBIS, funded under ‘The future of democracy and civic participation’.

Other more recently funded projects joined the cluster, including INNOVADE, AI4Deliberation, PERYCLES, funded under the Horizon topic ‘HORIZON-CL2-2024-DEMOCRACY-01-07 - Digital democracy’, and NEUROCLIMA, funded under ‘HORIZON-CL5-2023-D1-01-09 - Behavioural change and governance for systemic transformations towards climate resilience’.

The projects within this Task Force have successfully completed Module A and B of the Horizon Results Booster Service and have actively shared knowledge, best practices, and organising joint events.

These activities were vital in promoting cross-project learning and enhancing the overall impact of each initia-tive. The Task Force organised the Trustworthy AI by design joint webinar in October 2024 showcasing their collaborative efforts to equip policymakers and citizens with advanced tools for evidence-based decision-making, considering the latest advancements in information technologies, while also addressing the needs of vulnerable groups and cultural contexts. KT4D and other members of the Task Force have also jointly worked on the open access peer-reviewed publication ‘AI for Democracy’ in the Springer Series “Design and Innovation”, which will be release in early 2026. The current eight members of the Task Force have also applied for Booster service to formalise the renewed enlargement of the cluster through a customised video. Ultimately, as of today, an active discussion is also underay to produce a joint policy brief.

One of the most popular KT4D videos is the long-cut “KT4D and ORBIS at the AI4Gov 2nd Open Day in Athens - AI, Big Data & Democracy Task Force synergies'. In this video the KT4D project was pleased to feature the AI4Gov Open Day on March 20, 2025,  in Athens, an event dedicated to exploring the role of trustworthy artificial intelligence in the public sector.

Hosted by the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni, this event brought together experts, policymakers, and re-searchers to discuss AI’s potential to enhance governance, improve decision-making, and foster citizen engagement. As part of this event, KT4D, AI4Gov  and ORBIS  presented their work and showcased key project results, demonstrating how our research and innovations contribute to the broader AI and de-mocracy landscape. The KT4D team shot, edited and produced this video to highlight the role of AI and Big Data in supporting participatory decision-making, fostering transparency, and enhancing civic en-gagement. Both AI4Gov and ORBIS are part of the AI, Big Data and Democracy Task Force.

The Task Force was also involved in the design and organisation of the second KT4D Impact Event. “Beyond the Algorithm: From Research to Action for Democratic Renewal” has been the project's final impact event but also something more ambitious. It has been the successful attempt to consolidate the role of the AI, Big Data & Democracy Task Force.

The conference consolidated findings from four Horizon Europe projects (AI4Gov, ITHACA , KT4D, and ORBIS) to explore how artificial intelligence intersects with democratic resilience. The event was convened by the AI, Big Data & Democracy Task Force in cooperation with the European Alliance for Social Science and Humanities
